The doctoral student has basic knowledge of the functioning of the ZUT library and information system in the Main Library and faculty libraries. Knows the regulations in force in the Main Library and the rules for using library services. The doctoral student knows information databases and websites as well as library catalogs in which he or she can search for materials for a doctoral thesis. Learns techniques and ways of formulating queries and searching database resources. He knows that full texts of journals can be available under Open Access or in ZUT resources, and he knows that he can also use licensed databases via VPN from computers outside the ZUT network. Knows the rules for preparing lists of used literature independently or with the help of available bibliography managers. Is aware of the ethical aspects of scientific work and knows the basics of copyright law.

Is able to use the library's collections and the online catalog (searching, ordering, reserving books for loan or as part of presentation - on-site in the reading room). A doctoral student is able to select appropriate databases and information services, as well as library catalogues, in which he or she can search for materials for a doctoral thesis. Is able to use techniques and methods of formulating queries and searching database resources. Is able to access full texts of journals available under Open Access or in licensed ZUT resources. Is able to use license databases via VPN also from computers outside the ZUT network. Is able to prepare lists of used literature independently or with the help of available bibliography managers.
